shall be manned with two canal helmsmen. Class 5 crude oil vessels are manned with two canal helmsmen irrespective of their dimensions. Vessels on the section between the Defrol and Schwartenbeck are not subject to the obligation to accept a canal helmsman. One-man ships that are not subject to the obligation to take on a canal helmsman on the section Rüsterbergen - Brunsbüttel are also freed from that obligation on the section  Rüsterbergen to the district harbour Rendsburg.

Within the scope of individual alternatives of a Class, it must be interpolated  with regard to length and breadth. Hereby, 1.00m length equates with 0.10m breadth. Maximum breadths and lengths may not be exceeded after interpolation within the scope of a class. Length shall be rounded up or down to full metre and breadth shall be rounded up or down to full decimetre, whereby it shall be rounded down up to 0.5 and rounded up beginning at 0.5.
